Police officer killed in Dagestan
One police officer was killed and another one was wounded in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, the press service for the republican Internal Affairs Ministry told RIA Novosti news agency. It did not give any details of the incident though.
A source with law enforcement agencies said that the incident had taken place past 12.00 a.m. in the Diana cafИ in Korkmasov St in the city centre. Officers of an investigation division of Dagestan's Internal Affairs Ministry, junior lieutenants Arsen Gajiyev and Temirbek Shakhmanov, wanted to examine the ID documents of some suspicious men. However, the men opened fire. Officer Gajiyev died of sustained wounds and officer Shakhmanov was wounded. He tried to detain the criminals, but was not able to. The criminals were supposedly two, Dagestan news agency says. A search is running.
