Case on attempt on Imam Chumakov transferred to jury trial

On March 13, the Nazran District Court will start a consideration of the case on preparation of an assassination attempt against Imam Khamzat Chumakov, reports today the Court's press service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 3, 2017, it was reported on arrests of three suspects in the case of preparation of an assassination attempt against Khamzat Chumakov, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.

According to investigators, in 2017, two defendants were plotting a murder of the well-known religious leader on the grounds of religious hatred. They planned to activate a bomb near one of the mosques in Nazran. As far as the third suspect is concerned, the investigators have evidence that he participated in testing of an explosive device, but was not aware that the purpose of the crime was a murder.

On March 13, the Nazran District Court will start hearings in the case on the preparation of the assassination attempt against Khamzat Chumakov, an authoritative religious leader of Ingushetia, Imam of the Nasyr-Kort mosque. "The criminal case will be considered with the participation of jurors," reported a press officer of the Nazran District Court as quoted by the "Interfax".

The prisoner's dock contains three residents of Ingushetia, the "Interfax" reports.
