Members of Assembly of Caucasian Nations claim "akhmatization" of Chechnya

A new micro-district in the Nadterechny District intended for resettlers from landslide zones has been named after the former head of Chechnya, Akhmat Kadyrov. The intensive "akhmatization" of the Chechen ideology is going on, the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chairman (Speaker) of the Chechen Parliament suggested renaming Tsentaroi, the ancestral village of the current head of the republic, to Akhmat-Yurt - in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov, Ramzan's father. On May 21 it was announced that villagers at the gathering unanimously voted to rename their village after Akhmat Kadyrov.

On May 31, a new micro-district of 128 houses for the people resettled from landslide areas was opened in the village of Znamenskoye, Nadterechny District of Chechnya. The micro-district is named after Akhmat Kadyrov, a former head of Chechnya, an official from the municipal administration told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The second within a short time naming a compact dwelling settlement in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov is an implication of the "akhmatization" of the Chechen ideology, said Ruslan Kutaev, the head of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

"Already six months ago, I noticed that a very intensive and energetic 'akhmatization' of the whole ideology of the Chechen Republic is underway. An attempt is being made to identify certain parameters that should be a guiding star for everyone else," Mr Kutaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on June 2.

Ramzan Kadyrov is trying to associate everything positive in the republic with the name of his father, said Nasir Buluev, the representative of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations in European international organizations.

"In my opinion, Kadyrov is frantically trying to create an icon from his father. He wants to drive into the consciousness of the Chechens that all that has been done positively for our people throughout its history is the merit of Akhmat Kadyrov alone. And Ramzan himself, as a successor of his father's cause, is the guarantor of enforcement of all Akhmat's ideas. Ramzan's recent decisions to name (rename) dwelling settlements after his father have to do therewith," Mr Buluev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
