Manvel Grigoryan's health state deteriorates sharply

General Manvel Grigoryan, a former deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia, has been transferred to a civilian hospital, the press secretary for the Penitentiary Department reports today. Manvel Grigoryan stays at the resuscitation ward in severe condition, reported a doctor from the medical centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 15, the court extended for two months the arrest of Manvel Grigoryan, accused of illegal arms trafficking and embezzlement of food intended for the army.

In June 2018, Manvel Grigoryan, leader of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, was detained in a case on illicit arms trafficking and embezzlement on a "very large scale." After searches, law enforcers found in the Manvel Grigoryan's house rounds, ammunition, foodstuffs, and firearms. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that the retired General had embezzled the humanitarian aid intended for the army.

Tonight, an ambulance has been called for Manvel Grigoryan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from Nona Navikyan, the press secretary for the Penitentiary Department. "There is a need to transfer Manvel Grigoryan from the hospital for prisoners to a civilian hospital. At present, Manvel Grigoryan stays at the St Grigor Lusavorich Medical Centre in Yerevan," Nona Navikyan reported.

At night, Manvel Grigoryan was taken to the St Grigor Lusavorich Medical Centre, reported a spokesperson of the hospital. "Ambulance doctors assessed the Manvel Grigoryan's state of health as extremely severe, so they brought him to our medical centre. Manvel Grigoryan is now at the resuscitation ward," an on duty doctor of the medical centre explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
