Participants of picket dispersed in Krasnodar subjected to administrative arrest
According to reports of human rights activists, on June 9, 2006, a picket near the monument to Pushkin in Krasnodar (Krasnaya Street) was dispersed by almost one hundred militiamen. About 40 entrepreneurs protesting against the devastation by militia of their trade outlets on June 5 participated in the authorized picket.
Militiamen brought the resolution of the Krasnodar administration which cancelled the earlier permit to hold the picket. The dispersal was accompanied by brutal beatings. Today, 15 detainees have been sentenced by the magistrate to one-day administrative arrest, runs the report of the ООD "For Human Rights" sent to the "Caucasian Knot" editorial office.
