US Department of State: Russia keeps a heightened danger of terror acts
The US State Department reminded American citizens that Russia still has a "heightened danger of terror acts."
"This public message reminds American citizens who travel or live in Russia that the country preserves an increased potential for terrorist acts, including attacks on civil persons," runs the warning message distributed by the Department of State on Monday.
The message that has a reference nature for those leaving for Russia states that "this situation will most probably persist for a certain period of time."
The Department also informs that the warning will be valid till March 31, 2007.
The document recommends Americans to observe security precautions measures and "exercise high caution degree when visiting restaurants, casinos, night clubs, bars, theatres, etc."
Stressing that "the region of North Caucasus is causing a special concern" by virtue of "continuing civil and political disorders," the Department of State reminds US citizens that they should not visit Chechnya and bordering territories, including North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Stavropol Territory, the RIA "Novosti" informs.
