RF authorities to finance more than 1100 NGOs from the state budget

The president's administration has completed compilation of the final list of non-profit organizations to be supported from the state budget. "Izvestiya" reports that during the coming days a thick volume will be placed on the table of the country's leader, listing the names of more than 1100 NGOs. It is expected that the decree on the distribution of the 500 million rubles allocated for them will be signed by Vladimir Putin by November 4, Day of National Unity.

For reference, the first part of the precious list, including 516 NGOs, was made public by the Public Chamber in September; it had been selecting the organizations working across Russia. The second part of the NGOs was selected out of local organizations in the embassies of federal regions.

In the coming days, the list with recommendations will be submitted to President Vladimir Putin who will sign it in the capacity of the general customer.

European Court found Russia guilty of shooting five Chechen residents

Today, the European Court of Human Rights has found Russia guilty of shooting five members of the Estamirov family in Chechnya in February 2000, reports the "Legal Initiative for Russia" in its message sent to the "Caucasian Knot" editorial office. At present, at least eleven more cases of shooting which took place in the same district of Chechnya on the same day are being considered by the European Court.

On February 5, 2000, five members of the Estamirov family, including a baby, were shot by the Russian federal troops in a suburb of Grozny, the Chechen capital. The murder was committed in the course of a clean-up ("zachistka") carried out during several days upon setting control over the Chechen capital by the federal forces.
