Georgian NGO action against arbitrariness of police dispersed in Tbilisi
Tonight the Georgian police has dispersed scores of representatives of non-government organizations and political parties holding an action of protest on the Rustaveli avenue in front of the Georgian parliament.
The participants protesting against the violence of policemen and the functioning of the so-called "death squadrons" within the MIA system, blocked the automobile traffic along the Rustaveli avenue in the evening of May 23. The police, trying to unblock the traffic, resorted to force. Two participants were sent for testing the presence of drugs in their blood, reports Interfax.
For reference, on May 5, the patrol police detained three activists of non-government organizations taking part in the action of protest against the so-called "death brigades" of the Georgian MIA in the centre of Tbilisi.
