"The Voice of Beslan" intend to apply to European Court of Human Rights

Relatives of those who died as a result of seizure of school number 1 in Beslan intend to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.

"They assure us that it is a standard criminal case, but here we have violation of the victims' rights and uncertainty about the culprits of the tragedy. We shall surely apply to the international court in Strasburg," stated Ella Kesaeva, member of the "Voice of Beslan" committee to journalists.

In particular, she has noted that the victims remain dissatisfied with the situation expert study report which they have received even before the announcement of the sentence, reports "Interfax."

"The prosecutor's office assures us that the military forces have done everything well although it is not true," says Kesaeva.

Today, on the seventh day of reading the sentence to Nurpashi Kelaev, Beslan terrorist, the judge has announced a break until Friday in connection with the fact that "the last bell" ceremony is going to be held in the republic's schools on May 25. Judge Tamerlan Aguzarov has almost completed reading of the sentence. During the Wednesday hearing, part of the expert opinions was made public.

As a result of seizure of school number one in Beslan on September 1-3, 2004, the terrorists captured 1120 people. During the secret operation, 918 people were rescued. In its course 331 people were killed, including 317 hostages 186 of whom were children, two employees of the Ministry of Emergencies, 10 officers of the FSS and one resident of Beslan who had taken part in rescuing the hostages. 728 hostages and 55 officers of the FSS, internal affairs agencies and military servicemen were wounded.

In the course of rescuing hostages in Beslan on September 3, 2004, 31 terrorists were killed, 21 of them, including one woman suicider, have been identified by the investigation. Kulaev is the only terrorist captured alive, the bodies of the other members of the group, after expert analyses, have been buried in anonymous graves.
