General prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan failed to prove links of Zbigniew Brzezinski with organization "Eni Fikir"

Connections of the well-known American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski with the members of the youth organization "Eni Fikir" ("New Thought") active in Azerbaijan have not been proved. Ali Guliev, investigator of especially important cases of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, told journalists about it.

He marked that declarations of Ruslan Bashirli, chairman of "Eni Fikir," now in the prisoner's box, and of his deputies Ramin Tagiev and Said Nuriev that they allegedly met the well-known American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski are far from being a reality.

"In their statements they reported that met the political scientist in Warsaw where he instructed them on making a coup d'etat in Azerbaijan. However, it was not proved in the course of preliminary investigation," A. Guliev informed. He also marked that in this way the defendants are trying to divert the public attention from their crimes and use the trial for political purposes and gain dividends.

Note that in the course of court proceedings, defendant Said Nuriev demanded to withdraw from the case files the certificate provided by the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan saying that during the trip of Said Nuriev to Poland the American Political Scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski taught him the secrets of coup d'etat and methods of involving youth in mass disorders. Nuriev stated that Brzezinski did not take part in that workshop at all, and the above certificate should be withdrawn from the case files. Otherwise, in the opinion of Nuriev, the court should invite Zbigniew Brzezinski and Polish representatives to clarify the situation.

Meanwhile, Judge Tofik Pashaev postponed the court session of the trial of the heads of the "Eni Fikir," as the defendants broke the session procedure. Thus, R. Bashirli moved several petitions to the court. However, Shakhin Veliev, state prosecutor, brought to the knowledge of the court that they have nothing to do with the charges moved against R. Bashirli. For this reason, the Judge announced his decision on non-support of the petitions. The defendants, having expressed their protest against the Judge's ruling, turned their backs on the court hall. The Judge considered this action as disrespect of the court, and ruled postponement of the work of the court till May 26.

We remind you that activists of the youth organization "Eni Fikir" ("New Thought") are charged of preparing a coup d'etat and cooperation with special services of Armenia. Ruslan Bashirli, head of the organization, was arrested last August.
