In Moscow, the record of dispersal of the meeting in Dagestan was demonstrated

Today, at the press conference in Moscow, human rights activists demonstrated video materials evidencing the shooting by the authorities of a peaceful demonstration in the Dokuzparinskiy District of Dagestan on April 25. The video tape fixed the first several minutes after the start of dispersal of the demonstration. It is seen from the film that the meeting had a peaceful nature, when suddenly from three directions the "spetsnaz" (special troops) appeared, gunshots were heard. Panic arouse in the meeting crowd, and the filming interrupted. The witnesses of the events told at the press conference that the "spetsnaz" was following and beating the running people.

The movement "For Human Rights" informs that Lev Ponomaryov, executive director of the organization, sent to the General Prosecutor Vladimir Ustinov "an application on the crimes of the officials that resulted in shooting of the peaceful action of protest on April 25." The application comprises a request to form a special investigation team of the General Prosecutor's Office for investigating the reasons and circumstances of the events in the Dokuzparinskiy District and to initiate a criminal case in relation to those guilty, the "Echo Moskvy" reports.

We remind you that on April 25, a meeting of citizens of the Dokuzparinskiy District of Dagestan, who came out for dismissal of District Head Kerimkhan Abasov, ended in a confrontation with militia. Murad Magmetov, resident of the village, died from a firearm wound. Several more local citizens were wounded and injured, 11 militiamen also suffered.
