The Guardian: militiamen hide their colleagues suspected of Politkovskaya's murder
Today, it is precisely one month after the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
The Guardian edition reports that according to some sources, "heroes" of Politkovskaya's publications are involved in her murder. It informs that militia officers from Nizhnevartovsk are now interfering with the arrest of Alexander Prilepin, former militia major, who is searched for interrogation in connection with the case on Anna Politkovskaya's murder.
Mr. Prilepin, who is searched in connection also with tortures and disappearance of a young Chechen in Grozny in 2001, was seen in Nizhnevartovsk. However, local militiamen, The Guardian assumes, have helped him to escape detention.
We remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta," shot dead on October 7, was known, first of all, for her materials on Chechnya and North Caucasus.
