Russia's Supreme Court quashes acquittal on Khlebnikov's case
The Supreme Court of Russia has vacated a sentence to two Chechnya natives - Musa Vakhaev and Kazbek Dukuzov, who were acquitted on the murder case of Paul Khlebnikov, editor-in-chief of Russian Forbes. Thus, the Court has sustained the cassation lodgement of the prosecution office and the victims' complaint, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Paul Khlebnikov was killed in Moscow on July 9, 2004. The convicts on the case were two Chechens - Musa Vakhaev and Kazbek Dukuzov, and Fail Sadretdinov, a Moscow notary. The investigators' version ran that the journalist was murdered by the members of an organized criminal group comprised of Chechnya residents Dukuzov, his brother Magomed Dukuzov, Vakhaev, Magomed Edilsultanov and others. The investigation also reported that had established also the customer of Khlebnikov's murder - Hozh-Ahmed Nukhaev. Later, all of them were acquitted.
