Azerbaijan counts 24 shelling attacks committed by Armenia

The positions of the Azerbaijani Army were shelled, including those located in five villages of the border districts, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 2, Azerbaijan also reported about shelling attacks on the villages located on the border with Armenia, counting 25 ceasefire violations.

"During the past 24 hours, units of the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire in various sections of the frontline for 24 times," the Azerbaijani MoD has informed today on its website.

According to the MoD, those shelled were the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the villages of Gaimagly and Bal Djafarli of the Gazakh District, in the village of Kokhanebi of the Tovuz District, and in the villages of Geyali and Zamanly of the Gadabay District.

Today, by 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the MoDs of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia has not commented on the above statement in their websites.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
