Georgian authorities announce ban on entry to country for foreigners

Starting from March 18, foreign citizens will be not allowed visiting Georgia due to the threat of the spread of the coronavirus infection, the government of the country announces today.

As of March 15, in Georgia, the number of patients diagnosed with coronavirus reached 33 people. 427 people were in quarantine, and 73 patients with suspected coronavirus infection stayed under medical supervision in hospitals.

Starting from midnight on March 18, foreign citizens will not be able to enter Georgia. The ban is introduced for two weeks. The restriction does not apply to Georgian citizens who wish to return to the country, the press service of the Georgia's government announces today in its appeal as translated from Georgian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Furthermore, the authorities of Georgia decided to suspend the operation of all ski resorts. Restaurants, cafes, and bars are advised not to receive visitors, but they may continue their operation by selling take-away dishes. Besides, people over 70 years old are recommended to refrain from visiting crowded places, the press service of the Georgia's government announces.
