Azerbaijan claims machine-gun shelling on frontline
During the past 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed on the border with Armenia and in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled for 30, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 20, Azerbaijan counted 25 ceasefire violations committed by the Armenian side.
"During the past 24 hours, units of the Armed Forces of Armenia, by using large-calibre machine guns, violated the ceasefire in various sections of the frontline for 30 times," the website of the Azerbaijani MoD has reported today.
The shelling was conducted both from the territory of Armenia and from the territories controlled by the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), the MoD's message reports.
As of 9:27 a.m. Moscow time on March 21, the MoDs of Armenia and NKR had not responded to this message in their websites.
After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
