Advocates state violations of rights of arrested Ingush activists

The defence has appealed against the extension of the arrest of Bagaudin Khautiev, Musa Malsagov and Barakh Chemurziev, who believe that the court makes decisions under the pressure from the prosecutor's office. Activists were kept in the same SIZO (pre-trial prison) with those suspected of coronavirus, their advocates have complained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 19, the court extended the arrest of Chemurziev and Musa Malsagov until April 11; they are accused under the article on an extremist community. Chemurziev needs medicines that are not available at the SIZO, his wife said.

In January, it became known that Chemurziev and Malsagov, as well as four other Ingush activists, were charged with an article of an extremist community.

"Judicial decisions are made in violation of the law. Investigators and prosecutors put pressure on the court ... Each time the court makes illegal decisions," said Musa Malsagov.

According to Barakh Chemurziev, the court has committed numerous violations.

Magomed Abubakarov, an advocate, has supported the defendants' position. According to his story, there were many unjustified court decisions made within the framework of the case.

In his turn, Fayz Gafarov, an investigator of the Chief Investigating Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), has denied allegations of the pressure exerted by investigators and the prosecutor's office on the court.
