A refugee from Chechnya disappeared in Azerbaijan

Ruslan Eliev, 31, a refugee from Chechnya, has disappeared in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, under unclear circumstances.

At the Council of Nongovernmental Organizations, they have explained that Mr. Eliev lived in Baku for several recent years as a refugee and was registered as such at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. His family was in Azerbaijan with him: his wife and three children.

The relatives report that in the afternoon on November 9 Ruslan called them saying that he would soon be home, but then disappeared.

Meanwhile today, the Russian-Chechen News Agency has received information about a murder of Magomed Gabuev (born in 1982), a resident of Prigorodnoye village of the Groznenskiy Rural District of the Chechen Republic. Mr. Gabuev was shot dead on November 8, during an operation conducted by power agencies of Chechnya in Kalinovskaya village of the Naurskiy District. Magomed Gabuev was forced to live in Kalinovskaya with his mother's relatives, since he was afraid of prosecution by power agents. This August, Gabuev returned to Chechnya from France, where he had emigrated back before the start of the second war campaign.
