Chechnya: 42 administrative cases for violating self-isolation regime

42 residents of Chechnya face large fines for violating the self-isolation regime introduced in the republic because of the threat of coronavirus spread.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a ban on all public events is in force in Chechnya, and operation of restaurants, cinemas, and retail outlets have been suspended. Entry into the region is restricted, except for those delivering food, medicine, and other vital goods. Law enforcers are patrolling streets in Chechnya at night.

"In relation to 42 residents of Chechnya who have committed violations of the self-isolation and quarantine regime in force in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, administrative cases have been opened. Some of them are under Article 6.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of legislation on ensuring the population's sanitary and epidemiological well-being); others – under Article 20.6.1 of the same Code (failure to comply with the rules of conduct in case of emergency or threat of onset thereof," an official of the Chechen Prosecutor's Office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on April 27.

According to his story, Article 6.3 of the above Code provides for fines of up to 40,000 roubles, while an offense committed under Article 20.6.1 may be fined by the amount from 30,000 to 50,000 roubles.
