Azerbaijan registers 24 shelling attacks in Karabakh conflict zone
The positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled from sniper rifles and mortar launchers, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 29, the Azerbaijani MoD registered 24 cases of violation of the ceasefire regime in the Karabakh conflict zone, and a day earlier, the Azerbaijani MoD had reported about 23 shelling attacks on the country's troops.
"Units of the Armenian armed forces used sniper rifles and mortar launchers of various calibres and 24 times violated the ceasefire regime in various directions of the front within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its website today.
The fire came from the areas considered by Azerbaijan as its occupied territories, the Azerbaijani MoD reported.
As at 8:50 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.
After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
