Agil Gumbatov complains about poor health state after treatment in psychiatric hospital
Agil Gumbatov, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who was placed for compulsory treatment to the Republican Psychiatric Hospital in the village of Mashtaga, complained of bad health state after treatment with unknown drugs. A spouse of Agil Gumbatov fears for her husband's health state and demands to release the activist.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 30, PFPA member Agil Gumbatov was sent to a psychiatric clinic for compulsory treatment. The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan claimed that the activist was placed to the psychiatric clinic for his criticism of the country's authorities.
On May 11, Agil Gumbatov called home and complained of his poor health state. He said that he was being treated with unknown drugs and that doctors refused to inform him of the names of the medicines, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aigun Gumbatova, an activist's wife.
"I told him to refuse drugs and injections. However, they treat him using force. Agil said he felt very bad," the woman said.
Aigun Gumbatova believes that her husband is healthy and does not need any medical treatment. "Is my husband mentally ill? Why is he being treated like that? Why do they stuff the healthy person with medicines? If they continue to treat him like that, he will simply die," Aigun Gumbatova fears.
The spouse of the activist demands to release him from the psychiatric clinic.
