Instagram users criticize Dagestanis for inscribing "Stalin" on mountain slope
Under Stalin, nations of the Caucasus were repressed; and perpetuating his name on a mountainside in the Akhtynsky district of Dagestan is inappropriate, Instagram users have written under the video, in which men have whitewashed the stone inscription "Stalin".
A post about the action in honour of Stalin, organized by several residents of Dagestan, was posted on May 14 in the pro_chechnya public.
In the video, several men are on the mountain slope. One man is whitewashing the stones laid out on the ground in the form of letters. The man, who is filming, turns the camera on himself and welcomes the audience. Also, the post presents a photo taken from above – it shows the inscription "Stalin" in white on the mountainside.
"On the slope of the mountain in the Akhtynsky District of the Republic of Dagestan, local residents laid out the inscription STALIN with stones," says the post.
The subscribers to the public have condemned the men for glorifying Stalin. Many commentators left curses on him under the post. "Stalin didn't deport them; therefore (they love him)," the user sig_sauer_9595 has written.
