Some 150 doctors and nurses respond to call to help Dagestan

Medical students, doctors and nurses have agreed to go to work in hospitals where coronavirus patients are treated, activists of the "Companions of Good" movement have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 8, the Russian Ministry of Public Health recognized the situation with COVID-19 in Dagestan as the most alarming in Russia.

By May 15, over the past 24 hours, Dagestan revealed 97 new coronavirus infection cases; the figure was the highest in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). According to the Russian Govt's website "Stopcoronavirus" as of 10:35 a.m. Moscow time today, a total of 3192 cases of infection had been identified in Dagestan since the pandemic start.

The "Companions of Good" volunteer movement has posted a video in their Instagram page calling on medical students, nurses and non-profile doctors to come to work in hospitals and help their colleagues, who treat coronavirus patient.

To date, about 150 people have responded to the call, Zainudin Osmanov, a co-founder of the "Companions of Good" movement, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Those who want to help undergo special testing for suitability. After that, potential employers contact them," he said.
