Mufti of North Ossetia hospitalized because of complications provoked by coronavirus
Khadjimurat Gatsalov, one of the leaders of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) for North Ossetia, stays in severe condition because of complications provoked by the coronavirus infection, the Muftiate of North Ossetia reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ingush Mufti Abdurakhman Martazanov, who was diagnosed with the coronavirus infection, died on April 11.
"The condition of Khadjimurat Gatsalov is stable, but severe. He suffers from chronic diseases, so it is difficult for him to fight the coronavirus infection," the "Interfax" quotes the spokesman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims for North Ossetia.
Khadjimurat Gatsalov has been the Mufti since 2011.
Starting from April 1, in North Ossetia, all mosques have been closed for quarantine in connection with the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Muftiate of North Ossetia reports on its official website.
North Ossetia leads in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in terms of the number of coronavirus-infected patients per 100,000 people. According to the government-run website "Stopkoronavirus.ru", 2314 cases of the coronavirus infection were detected in the region, and 18 patients died.
Let us remind you that on May 17, Ismail Berdiev, the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims for Karachay-Cherkessia announced his hospitalization with unconfirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
