European Court will consider the case of Azerbaijani veterans of Karabakh war

On October 26, the European Court for Human Rights will consider a complaint lodged by Etimad Asadov and other leaders of the Society of Azerbaijani Veterans of Karabakh War. The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" was told at the Society that this group of Azerbaijan citizens thinks that a very long delay in registering their organization was a breach of the right for freedom of associations. We mark here that although the organization of Karabakh war veterans was founded on December 20, 2001, the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan registered it only in April 2006. The procrastination with the registration process forced the veterans to apply to the European Court.

The case of Karabakh veterans versus the authorities will be the first case on Azerbaijan on the European Court's agenda.
