Turkey ready to send humanitarian aid to KChR and KBR

The Turkish Ministry of Public Health (MPH) has requested information on the necessary medical help in the Karachay-Cherkessian and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republics (KChR and KBR), and attempted to transfer it through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), but the latter refused to cooperate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 1, 2020, the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations, the "Elbrusoid" Foundation and the Congress of Karachay Nation sent an appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin; the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; and Melita Vujnović, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Russia, which indicates a critical situation with coronavirus spread in the KChR and KBR.

The appeal of the above public organizations has found response in Turkey, Alij Totorkulov, the president of the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"The Turkish MPH has contacted us and asked for additional information," Mr Totorkulov said, adding that public activists sent a list of necessary equipment, medicines and protective means to the Turkish MPH.

"They gathered everything we needed; the Red Crescent turned to the Russian Red Cross about the humanitarian aid, but they refused, claiming that they had no deficit. Therefore, we are now waiting that on the next week the information will be brought to President Erdoğan, and the problem will be resolved through the channels of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFAs), or the administrations of the two presidents," Alij Totorkulov has concluded.
