Azerbaijan is concerned with situation of Azerbaijanis in Russia

Upon instruction of the president of Russia in relation to migrants, they have started to deport people who have no registration out of Russian cities. The decision is most strictly applied to citizens of Georgia, and part of them has already been deported from the country. Among them, there are also natives of Azerbaijan, now citizens of Georgia.

According to Ilkham Aliev, chairman of the Centre for Legal and Democratic Reforms, the situation with the Azerbaijanis - citizens of Georgia - is causing special alarm. "We stand against rough attitude of the law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation to the Azerbaijanis of Georgia. It would mean a violent violation of human rights and freedoms," I. Aliev has noted.

While Aliovsat Aliev, chairman of the Centre for Legal Aid to Migrants (CLAM), considers that the statement of the RF government is directed against the Azerbaijanis living in Russia because most of them are engaged in trading. According to the Centre, in November, over 100 persons were excluded from Russia, 90% of them are Azerbaijanis with Georgian citizenship.
