Rights defender Ogtai Gyulyalyev undergoes fourth neurosurgery
The fourth neurosurgery to Ogtai Gyulyalyev, an Azerbaijani rights defender, in an Istanbul clinic was successful, but he is still in coma, his wife Firuza Gyulyalyeva has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 2019, Ogtai Gyulyalyev, the head of the public alliance "Azerbaijan Without Political Prisoners", after a press conference, where he spoke about the plan of a campaign against torture, was hit down by a car driver at a pedestrian crossing. The rights defender fell into coma; and in this condition, he was transferred to the above Istanbul clinic.
The fourth surgery was made to Gyulyalyev on June 25 at the "American Hospital" in Istanbul.
"The surgery lasted for about four hours; then, Ogtai was connected to an artificial respiration apparatus. Two hours later, he began breathing on his own. Now, his condition is normal, there are no complications," Firuza Gyulyalyeva, Ogtai's wife, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
However, according to her story, her husband has not yet completely left his coma.
