Culture Centre to be opened in burnt-down restaurant in Kondopoga

The "Chaika" restaurant in the town of Kondopoga, which was burnt down in the course of mass disorders in September, will be rebuilt into a culture-leisure youth centre. The press service of Karelian administration reports that the ground floor will house an Internet hall, ice-cream parlour, billiard room and a hall for holding meetings, concerts and discotheques. The first floor is intended for offices of the youth cultural centre and other public organizations, and the headquarters of the voluntary people's guard, the "Gazeta.Ru" informs.

We remind you that the cause of mass disorders in the town of Kondopoga was a fight of locals with Caucasian natives in the course of which two persons were killed. As a consequence of the unrest that followed practically all members of national minorities, the Chechen Diaspora inclusive, left Kondopoga.
