Revenge treated as possible motive for killing former law enforcer in Ingushetia

After the conflict in Ekazhevo, claims had been put forward against the former law enforcer shot dead in the Nazran District of Ingushetia. He had provided his car to employees of Centre "E"; and the detained conflict participants were taken away in the car, which caused claims from members of their vird (a sort of praying community), fellow villagers of the casualty believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 13, in the village of Surkhakhi, the car of an ex-policeman was shelled. He was killed and his passengers – his mother and wife – were wounded. This is the fifth attack on law enforcers in Ingushetia since the beginning of the year.

Before the murder, followers of Batal-Haji Belkhoroev (a Chechen-Ingush Sufi religious leader of the 19th-20th centuries) made claims against the killed Mukharbek Aushev, which appeared after the conflict with shooting and arrest of its participants, fellow villagers have noted.

The murder could have been motivated by revenge, says Nakir, a villager.
