Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling four villages

During the past 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the villages situated on the border with Armenia and in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled for 37 times, including from large-calibre machine guns, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 4, Azerbaijan counted 57 attacks on the positions of its troops in the conflict zone, and the day earlier – 46 such attacks.

"During the last 24 hours, units of the Armed Forces of Armenia, by using large-calibre machine guns, violated the ceasefire for 37 times in various sections of the frontline," the Azerbaijani MoD has stated on its website today.

The Azerbaijani positions deployed in the villages of Alibeili, Agdam, Asrik Djyrdakhan and Agbulag of the Tovuz District came under fire.

The fire was also delivered from the territories that Azerbaijan considers as its occupied ones, follows from the message of the Azerbaijani MoD.

As of 8:40 a.m. Moscow time today, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not commented on this statement about the shelling on their websites today.

Let us remind you that the conflict escalated on July 12. Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the escalation of the situation in the region was triggered by an attempt to break through the border committed by the Azerbaijani troops. According to the official information, in the period from July 12 to July 27, six soldiers from the Armenian side were killed, while other 35 soldiers, two policemen, and one civilian were wounded. The authorities of Azerbaijan reported about 13 killed people, including 12 soldiers and one civilian, and four wounded soldiers.
