Advocate reports detention of participant in Magas rally

Law enforcers have detained Magomed-Bashir Ozdoev within the case of the rally in Magas, and took him to Nalchik, said Magomed Bekov, an advocate for Ingush activists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Kislovodsk City Court is trying leaders of protests that were held in Ingushetia in March 2019. They are charged with creating an extremist community.

On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia extended, without authorities' permit, the protest rally in the city of Magas. In the morning on March 27, protesters clashed with law enforcers. Since the beginning of April 2019, mass arrests of oppositionists were undertaken all over the republic. By the end of September, the sentences against 25 out of the 44 defendants accused of clashes with law enforcers came into force.

Magomed-Bashir Ozdoev, born in 2000, was detained within the case of the events in Magas in March 2019; he was convoyed to Nalchik, his advocate, Magomed Bekov, has stated today with reference to his clients' relatives.

"In a word, repressions continue!" Mr Bekov wrote in his Facebook page.
