The Guardian: bodies of two beheaded men identified in Nagorno-Karabakh

The two elderly men beheaded in the video have been identified, The Guardian reports. They were ethnic Armenians, their fellow villagers have reported.

In the video clips posted on the Internet, men in uniforms resembling Azerbaijani militaries decapitate a man with a knife. Residents of the village of Madatashen in Nagorno-Karabakh have identified the murdered man as the 69-year-old Gennady Petrosyan. He did not want to leave the village when Azerbaijani troops had approached.

In another video, three residents of the village of Azokh identified the 82-year-old Yuri Asryan, who refused to leave the village on October 20, when Azerbaijani troops had approached.

Although both parties in conflict are accused of committing crimes, the web is dominated by records in which Armenian soldiers and civilians become victims of Azerbaijani troops, The Guardian writes.

New exposures of torture indicate that for many people violence continues even after the formal end of the war, Tatiana Lokshina, a Human Rights Watch (HRW) researcher, has noted.

Artak Beglaryan, the Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh, has called on to intensify efforts to investigate the war crimes committed during the conflict.
