Oppositional leader suspected of calling to kill Pashinyan

Garnik Isagulyan, the head of the "National Security" Party, has been criminally prosecuted for his words about a reward for the assassination of the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan; he is also suspected of defamation for his allegations of sponsoring the "Velvet Revolution" from Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that shortly after the start of mass protests in Yerevan, on November 12, Garnik Isagulyan, the head of the "National Security" Party, was detained along with a number of other oppositionists.

A criminal case has been initiated against Garnik Isagulyan for public calls to violence. One of the reasons was a video posted on the YouTube, where Isagulyan says that "the one who shoots Nikol dead should be awarded the title of national hero or a prize of one million dollars," the "Armenia Today" has reported today, citing the press service of the Investigating Committee.

Earlier, Isagulyan also stated that the Premier, Nikol Pashinyan, had organized the 2018 "Velvet Revolution" for the funds received from Turkey and Azerbaijan. Garnik Isagulyan even named the amount: USD 48 million. Back on November 30, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia addressed the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) in this regard. Isagulyan was threatened with criminal prosecution "in case of further dissemination of slander," the "Armenia Today" writes.
