Residents of Kajaran arrive in Yerevan to support a critic of Nikol Pashinyan

Manvel Paramazyan, Mayor of Kajaran, was summoned for questioning to the Investigating Committee of Armenia after he had demanded the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Residents of Syunik gathered for a support rally in front of the building, and most of them came from Kajaran.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 21, residents of the Syunik Region blocked the road to prevent the arrival of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The protest action led to clashes between the protesters and the police. On the same day, Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan was detained for calling on city residents to take part in the protest action.

Kajaran Mayor Manvel Paramazyan is under questioning at the Investigating Committee of Armenia. Supporters of the Mayor gathered in the yard of the Investigating Committee building, the "News.Am" reports today.

Manvel Paramazyan treats his summons to the Investigating Committee as political persecution. In front of the Investigating Committee building, Kajaran Mayor has told reporters he regrets he had to leave the positions at the border. "The Armenian authorities do not like the people who defend the borders of the country. We are busy defending the borders there, and what are they doing here?" said Manvel Paramazyan as quoted by the "Sputnik Armenia".
