Protesters disrupt Pashinyan's visit to Agarak

The residents of the Syunik Region advocating the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister have blocked the way for Nikol Pashinyan's motorcade; and he himself was forced to leave the city of Agarak.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after signing the armistice over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian opposition launched a campaign demanding Pashinyan's resignation. On March 18, Pashinyan announced that early parliamentary elections would be held on June 20; and on March 28, he clarified that he would leave office in April for early elections, but would continue to serve as head of the government (Premier). The opposition has treated this decision as unacceptable; and political analysts – as a trick aimed to follow the "letter of the law."

Residents of the city of Agarak did not allow Pashinyan to hold a meeting with townspeople, demanding from him to leave the city. A scuffle ensued between supporters and opponents of the prime minister, but the police managed to separate the parties, the "Zangezur TV" reports.

"Why did he come here? The society doesn't want to see this traitor," one of the protesters said on air of the TV channel.

The day before, Nikol Pashinyan left with an unexpected visit to the Syunik Region and managed to visit several villages, the "News-Armenia" has written.
