Relatives report deportation of Chechen native from France

Mansur Ismailov, a native of Chechnya, was detained in France and deported to Russia; and now they plan to hand him over to Chechen law enforcers, his wife said. She fears that her husband, who had undergone surgery and has chronic diseases, will receive no apt medical care in Russia, the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" has informed.

According to his wife, the 39-year-old Ismailov was detained on May 11, when he came to get registered at the police, and the next day he was deported to Russia.

Ismailov left Russia in 2007. In France, he lived with his wife and four children, was convicted, served three years in prison and was released in 2018; and since December 2020, he was obliged to come and get registered at the police station three times a day.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on April 9, the 37-year-old Magomed Gadaev was deported from France to Chechnya. A video appeared on the Instagram, in which Gadaev claimed that he hadn't been beaten up. Users treated the video as staged; and human rights defenders noted that the video only increased fears for his life.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
