“Nairit” plant workers threaten Armenian authorities with a non-stop protest action

Today, at a protest action in Yerevan, activists have claimed that the Armenian government is to solve the problem of wage arrears to workers of the “Nairit” plant. The protestors threaten to continue their action non-stop.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the “Nairit” plant, which produced chloroprene rubber in demand on world markets, has been idle since April 2010. Former workers of the plant regularly hold protest actions with the demand to restore the operation of the plant.

Today, the workers of the “Nairit” plant have taken part in a protest action in front of the building of the Armenian government, the “Yerevan.Today” reports today.

The protesters are demanding a meeting with an official from the Cabinet of Ministers and a solution to problems with their jobs and payments of wage arrears. “If no positive steps are taken within two days to pay off the wage arrears, the team will not go to work. The workers will not enter the territory of the plant. That means the plant safety ensuring will be endangered,” said one of workers.

The plant workers threaten to hold a non-stop protest action in front of the government building if their problems are not resolved.
