After deportation from France, Chechen Mansur Ismailov lacks necessary treatment

Mansur Ismailov, a native of Chechnya, deported from France, has been left without documents, without registration, and he cannot go to hospital, Oyub Titiev, a human rights defender, has stated. Ismailov himself said that he needed a doctor's examination every month.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 39-year-old Ismailov, who left Russia in 2007, lived in France, but on May 11, 2021, he was detained and hastily deported to Chechnya.

According to Oyub Titiev, Ismailov is now in Moscow. Since he is not a figurant in any criminal case, his major problem is medical treatment. "For three days, he received no medication; then he was hospitalized, but was discharged very quickly, since he has no residence permit. Out of 16 medications he needs, only two were given to him, explaining that the rest were too expensive. He has no money to buy them. So far, the 'Civil Assistance' Committee has helped him with this," Mr Titiev has added.

Ismailov has noted that he would not like his wife and children to move to Russia. "Children need to study in order to achieve something in life. If they move, they will have to start all over again," he has explained.

On May 28, human rights defenders from the Amnesty France, the League of Human Rights and the Comite Tchetchenie stated that French authorities were violating international rules by expelling Chechen natives to Russia, where they face torture and ill-treatment at home.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
