Russia’s Ombudsperson believes Chechen authorities’ information about Taramova

Everything is in order with Khalimat Taramova, says Russia’s Ombudsperson Tatiana Moskalkova. She refers to the information from the Chechen Prosecutor’s Office and the administration of the leader of the republic.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 10, Chechen law enforcers took Khalimat Taramova, a daughter of a Ramzan Kadyrov’s close associate, away from Dagestan. The young woman was hiding in a Makhachkala apartment shelter for victims of domestic violence. On June 14, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) requested the Russian authorities to submit information about Khalimat Taramova. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian President, said that the federal authorities do not attribute such cases to their competence.

After Khalimat Taramova’s return to Chechnya, the “Grozny” TV Channel released a report about her. In the video, the young woman said that she was glad to be at home and assured that she was “absolutely not pressured.” Instagram users doubted the sincerity of Khalimat Taramova’s statement made in front of a video camera.

The young woman from Chechnya, whom law enforcers took away from the crisis centre in Dagestan, is at home, and everything is in order with her, Tatiana Moskalkova reports. “We contacted the Prosecutor’s Office of Chechnya and the administration of the leader of Chechnya, and we found out that the young woman is alive, healthy, and stays at home with her relatives,” said Tatiana Moskalkova as quoted by the TASS.
