Shootouts continue on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

After the death of an Azerbaijani serviceman and the wounding of three Armenian soldiers, shootouts on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border continue.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 23, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that the Armenian party began shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the Kelbadjar District, and that a warrant officer of the Azerbaijani Army was killed by a sniper shot. In response, the Armenian MoD has stated that the Azerbaijani side opened fire on Armenian positions in the Gegarkunik Region. The Armenian MoD reported that its three servicemen were wounded.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have intensively shelled the positions of the Armenian Army in the direction of the village of Kut, Gegarkunik Region, located in the east of Armenia, the "Interfax" reported with reference to Akop Avetyan, the village head.

Arman Tatoyan, Armenian Ombudsperson, has also claimed intensive shooting on the Azerbaijani border. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are firing in the area adjacent to the villages of Kut, Sotk and Azat in the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia, the "News-Armenia" has reported with reference to the press service of the Ombudsperson's office.

The Azerbaijani side has also confirmed the continuation of shelling. Shootouts continue in the Kelbadjar District on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the "Report" agency stated at 10:12 p.m. Moscow time on July 23 citing the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD.
