Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of using an UAV at border
The Armenian armed forces have suppressed an attempt by an Azerbaijani unmanned aerial vehicle to fly over the territory of the Gegarkunik Region, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reports.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the conflict at the border of the Syunik and Gegarkunik Regions with Azerbaijan arose in mid-May. Yerevan claims that Azerbaijani soldiers entered the Armenian territory and set up a post there. Baku insists that border guards only changed their location while staying within the Lachin and Kelbadjar Districts.
Today, at about 11:00 a.m. in the area of Gegarkunik at the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Armenian armed forces registered an enemy UAV’s attempt to enter the airspace of Armenia, the country's MoD reports. “As a result of the actions of the air defence units of the Armenian armed forces, the enemy’s attempt was suppressed,” the Armenian MoD reports on its official website.
As of 1:30 p.m. Moscow time on August 4, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan has not posted on its official website any comments regarding the allegations of the Armenian side.
