Chechen native sentenced to life imprisonment for murder of blogger criticizing Kadyrov

In Austria, a court sentenced Sarali Akhtaev to life imprisonment in a case on the murder of Mamikhan Umarov, a blogger, well-known for criticizing Ramzan Kadyrov.

Sarali Akhtaev refused to plead guilty of murdering the blogger well-known as “Anzor from Vienna.” Meanwhile, the defendant confirmed the investigators’ version that he wanted to sell a pistol to Mamikhan Umarov.

Mamikhan Umarov was shot dead in Vienna a year ago, on July 4, 2020. Since 2005, he lived in Austria with documents in the name of Martin Beck. The last video on his “Anzor Tscharto Beck Martin” YouTube channel was posted a day before his death. The videos gained hundreds of thousands of views. The blogger openly criticized and even insulted Ramzan Kadyrov and his parents. Blogger Mansur Stary (Mansur Old), who was killed in France, used a similar style of criticism of Ramzan Kadyrov.

According to members of the Chechen Diaspora, Mamikhan Umarov had collaborated with the special services of Austria for many years and tried to identify Chechen killers sent to Europe. Mamikhan Umarov knew that he was at risk, given the wave of murders of Chechen natives in Europe, public figure Musa Lomaev told the “Caucasian Knot”.
