Residents of three Armenian villages blocked after closure of road from Goris to Kapan
Soldiers blocked a section of the road from Goris to Kapan, and as a result, residents of the villages of Vorotan, Shurnukh, and Bartsravan were left without a car connection. The blocked villages face problems with the supply of food.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the State Border Guard Service of Azerbaijan claimed that on August 25, Armenian soldiers attacked a border guard on the territory of the “Gubadly” border-combat checkpoint. According to the Azerbaijani Border Guard Service, the border guard was stabbed. The Armenian side denied the accusations. On August 25, Azerbaijani soldiers blocked a section of the road from Goris to Kapan. Cars with residents of Armenia were blocked for several hours. The Russian peacekeepers entered into negotiations to get those people out of the blockaded area.
The Azerbaijani soldiers have blocked the section of the road from Goris to Vorotan, Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan reports on Facebook. According to him, such actions violate the right of citizens to free movement.
The trilateral negotiations with the participation of the Russian side are underway, reports Naira Zograbyan, a former member of the Armenian parliament.
According to her, in connection with the closure of the road, the problems arose with the supply of bread, including to the village of Vorotan. “The Azerbaijani side does not allow the passage of vehicles. They only allowed the delivery of bread to Vorotan, accompanied by the Russian peacekeepers,” Naira Zograbyan noted.
The situation in the village of Shurnukh is calm, but residents are concerned about what is happening, reports Akop Arshakyan, the head of the community.
