Azerbaijani border guard blown up by a mine

Junior Sergeant Elgyun Nazarkhanly was injured as a result of a mine explosion at a border checkpoint in the Zangelan District, the State Border Guard Service of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that residents of Azerbaijan are very often blown up by mines in the Karabakh conflict zone. So, on September 24, two villagers who went missing in late July were found dead in a mined area on the border of the Goygol and Kelbadjar Districts.

Earlier, military analysts questioned by the “Caucasian Knot” have pointed out that demining the territories after the combat actions in Nagorno-Karabakh may take years, and clearing the sites of military operations from ammunition is a long and complicated process.

Today, at about 3:00 p.m., while moving around the border checkpoint in the Zangelan District, Elgyun Nazarkhanly, Junior Sergeant of the extra-conscript active military unit of the State Border Guard Service, has been blown up by an anti-personnel mine and injured, the ”Report” agency reports with reference to the State Border Guard Service of Azerbaijan.

The soldier was provided with first aid and evacuated by a helicopter to a military hospital in the Akhmedbeili village in the Fizuli District, and he stays under medical supervision, the APA reports.
