Azerbaijan reports about an attack on soldier in Karabakh
Today, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan has reported about an attack on a soldier in the Khodjavend District. The attacker tried to seize a soldier’s firearm.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 14, Khafiz Nasibov, Sergeant of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and two other militaries were wounded as a result of a grenade explosion at a checkpoint near Shushi (the Azerbaijani name is Shusha, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”). Russian peacekeepers detained the man who threw the grenade. The attacker was identified as Norair Mirzoyan, a resident of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He was handed over to the Karabakh law enforcement bodies. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Nagorno-Karabakh stated that Norair Mirzoyan was provoked by the soldiers themselves. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan regarded the incident as a terror act, while the National Security Service of Nagorno-Karabakh stated that the attacker responded “to the provocative actions of the Azerbaijani militaries” after Azerbaijani armed forces shelled workers who were repairing a water pipeline near Shushi on November 8. One of the workers died in hospital, and three others were hospitalized.
The man who attacked a soldier in Karabakh was neutralized, the MoD of Azerbaijan reported.
“After a warning shot into the air, the Azerbaijani soldier disarmed the attacker as self-defence,” the MoD of Azerbaijan reported.
