Azerbaijani resident detained for exporting scrap metal from Nagorno-Karabakh

In the Khodjavend District, Mazakhir Abdullaev, a resident of Azerbaijan, was detained for an attempt to export two tons of scrap metal collected in the non-demined territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azerbaijani policemen are periodically detaining and fining local residents who breach the ban on visiting non-demined territories of the Karabakh conflict zone. On November 20, law enforcers detained two residents who were trying to enter the Khodjavend District (the Armenian name for Khodjavend is Martuni).

At the checkpoint located in the village of Beyuk Taglar (the Armenian name is Mets Tager), policemen stopped a truck and detected that the driver was trying to take out scrap metal, which, presumably, was collected in the territory of the Khodjavend District, the "Media.az" has reported with reference to the Barda regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan.

Let us remind you that Khalid Agaliev, an employee of the Civil Society Platform, has suggested that internally forced migrants penetrate into the area of former hostilities of a desire to visit their small homeland. In their turn, residents of the Terter District have noted that there are frequent cases of looting in Nagorno-Karabakh.
