Karabakh conflict is among main topics of Putin-Pashinyan talks in Moscow

An essential part of the agenda of Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Russia, the Armenian Premier called the settlement issue of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. The result of his meeting with Russian President was the signing of documents on the countries' cooperation in various spheres, as well as a statement on the need to speed up the creation of a border delimitation commission, and security issues near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late March, the Security Council of Nagorno-Karabakh asked the President of Russia to urge Azerbaijan to follow the agreements, and to increase the Russian peacemaking contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In the fall of 2020, Russia and Putin personally played a key role in ending the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh; and Russian peacemakers ensure safety of the local population, Mr Pashinyan has stated.

The statement following the meeting says about the need to intensify the mutual cooperation of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, including, in accordance with the agreements, the prompt setting up of a border delimitation commission, and consider security issues near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with the assistance of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted here that Pashinyan's visit to Russia takes place amid protests held by the Armenian opposition in Yerevan, where they criticize Pashinyan's policies, who on April 13 announced the possibility of "lowering the bar" on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
