Activists of the "Equality Institute" released in Georgia
Representatives of the Georgian nongovernmental organization (NGO) "Equality Institute" Jaba Dzhishkariani, Leval Gogichaishvili and David Dalakishvili were released from arrest today at 2:00 p.m.
In the opinion of Lasha Chkhartishvili, leader of the NGO "Equality Institute," the arrest of the members of his organization was illegal.
Right after release, Jaba Dzhishkariani told in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the organization would not stop its struggle for democratic freedom.
We remind you that on June 12 the three activists of the NGO "Equality Institute" were sentenced by the Administrative Collegium of the Tbilisi City Court to 25 days of arrest each. They were charged of disobedience to representatives of law enforcement bodies, and of blocking the road.
David (Dato) Dalakishvili, Jaba Dzhishkariani and Leval Gogichaishvili were detained during a protest action at the building of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Georgia, which demanded release of Irakliy Batiashvili, one of the leaders of the political movement "Forward, Georgia!"
