Social media users argue about Zaira Pirova’s escape to Georgia

The family should accept the choice of Dagestani native Zaira Pirova and stop searching for her in Georgia, social media users note. Their opponents demanded that the girl should be returned to her family.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Zaira Pirova left for Georgia, as she was being forced to marriage and subjected to pressure in her family. However, relatives are trying to find the girl. Zaira Pirova claimed that she was in danger in her family. A Zaira’s father claims that his daughter has been kidnapped and is being kept somewhere, with threats of using violence against her family. Zaira had to leave Dagestan because of her relatives’ attempts to find her, human rights defenders objected. Zaira contacted her relatives, but could not convince them that she left home voluntarily. The girl said that she was missing her family. On January 8, the girl’s father gave her two days to think over the situation and promised that if she returned, she would be given “special treatment.”

The “Marem” human rights group called the Zaira Pirova’s case typical. “Most girls who run away from home end up in a similar story. Their relatives assure that the family is safe, but the girl was recruited, some people want to sell her into slavery, and that her mind has been clouded with the help of psychologists, or that evil feminists entrapped her into a sect ... We do not believe the words of the Zaira’s father,” the human rights defenders claimed in their Telegram channel.

Some users on Instagram* of the “Marem” human rights group noted that Zaira is free to decide her own fate.

“Do you know that she misses her family? She herself admitted that in her recent conversation with her family. May she never see her family, sisters, parents? Would you also wish this for yourself?” asked user r.a_i.s.

Some media users demanded that the girl should be returned to Dagestan. “Her parents love her and are waiting for her! Bring Zaira home,” wrote, in particular, user Zemfira rs.

“Under the posts about Zaira Pirova, who ran away from home, the comments of the girl’s relatives appeared, telling their version of what happened. Initially, the family made accusations that the girl was kidnapped for the purpose of marriage, now they are talking that some people are going to sell her into slavery. However, we strongly ask other users not to enter into a discussion with these people,” the “SK SOS Crisis Group”** emphasizes in its Telegram channel.
